PATIO BY CULZONI COOL DECKING AND COPING INSTALLATION Installation( 16 Kb) - Download PDF
Steps to follow when installing Patio by Culzoni Cool Decking and Coping Previous planning: Before starting to install Patio by Culzoni cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums, it is important to make an appropriate selection and/or laying out of the pieces to have a better evenness of colors in accordance with the accepted standards for laying floors.
Installing: To install the pieces it is recommended to use the following mix:
½ (half) part cement (type CP 40)
1 (one) part hydrated lime
4 (four) parts sand
Bonding Adhesive
Cleaning the area: Previous to the application of the bonding adhesive, remove dust from the back side of the cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums, with a plastic or root brush. Applying cement slurry: To have an adequate adherence, before installing the cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums, it is essential to paint the back part of the pieces with thick cement slurry/grout up to making a even layer of approximately 2-3 mm (1/16-1/18"). Cement slurry/grout mix should be:
2 (two) parts of ordinary cement (CP 40 type)
1 (one) part of water
Instead of cement-water and adhesive for ceramic may be used (Klaucol type-water or similar)
Adding any other bounding mix (Tacurú type) is optional.
DO NOT SATURATE THE PIECES. Sponge water onto the pieces- as seen in the video- to hydrate them. It is essential to do this step before painting the back side of the cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums pieces with cement grout or slurry to avoid the abrupt dehydration of the bonding mixture. The cool decking and coping pieces should be laid before the bonding adhesive cures.
Rough Back Side: The rough aspect on the back of the cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums pieces, is due to the brushing specifically made during the manufacturing process to obtain the best adhesion when the pieces are finally placed on the ground.
Sloping: Patio by Culzoni cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums should slope down towards the outer part of the swimming pool, in order to allow a correct drainage of the water. To generate such slope, the cool coping pieces should be raised 1.5 cm – 3/8" , measured vertically from the vertical line of the swimming pool wall.
Using the Curved 3-piece Set (with 50 cm radio: install the sloping starting by positioning the 3-piece set first. Joints and upper faces of the pieces must be positioned in a perfect compatible way.
Joints: Install Patio by Culzoni's cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums with joints at least 1.5 cm - 3/8" thick.
Grouting Material: Fill joints with our grouting "Material Patio by Culzoni"(or similar; be careful with the material shade) specially designed for these cool copings, decking & pavers / solariums pieces since, unlike the grout, it is heat- resistant. Once the grout has been firmly embedded and most of the excess has been wiped off, it is time to move into the jointing process.
Make consistent ball joints: it is important to remember that ball joints should be slightly below the surface of the pieces. Ball joints must be indented 3-4 mm/ (1/8”-5/32”) in relation to the upper face of the cool decking & copings pavers /solariums. FLUSH JOINTS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED.
Grouting and marking ball joints between the vertical plane of the wall of the swimming pool and the coping: The difference in the level of these joints should be approximately 7 mm – 1/4" below the coping. A mortar of cement and sand will be used, ratio: 1:2 + additive
IMPORTANT: when unpacking, cool deck and coping pieces may present different color shades because of the normal condensation taking place while packed. After 15 days of being installed, the colour point homogeneity will improve. Shade variations are an inherent characteristic of all these kind of products. Please inspect actual shade of tile before installation. Use constitute acceptance.
