Finnish Overflow:

Less Work & More Beauty!

Patio by Culzoni has developed a system that allows cleaning dirt automatically off your pool in the very same moment it deposits on the surface water. Virtually, your pool will rarely become polluted because this practical and useful Finnish Overflow System does not retain stagnant water in your pool. Surface water overflows continuously and, consequently, dirt, leaves or any possible impurities do not affect the total volume of water. This innovating and highly aesthetic system is one better alternative when we compare it with the skimmer system used to pump in surface water already filtrated in swimming pools.

To have the Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System, also called “water mirror reflection”, makes your pool a unique one, with quality and purity of water without precedent. Daily maintenance is to be kept in mind when designing a residential pool. Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System makes this daily work to become almost nonexistent. Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System takes care and protects water in your swimming pool because it offers a large recollection area with constant water overflow. The use of the traditional vacuum is almost eliminated when the moment of taking care of the swimming pool comes.

DESCRIPTION
:

Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System is practical and eye-catching. Patio by Culzoni strongly recommends it as an alternative once the client has made up his or her mind to build a swimming pool at home. Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System has a “u” shaped gutter that forms the channel all around the swimming pool. The channel receives the constant water overflow produced by multiple in-floor filtered water supply line. The grille fitted above the channel permits the passing of water. Grilles are made of a material that has gone a special process to make them resistant to sun and water exposure; they come in special sizes and are non-skid. The surfaces where these pieces are fitted have been previously sloped toward the swimming pool interior.

Previous studies and hydraulic calculations must be done before starting to build the pool as it is necessary to calculate the tank dimensions and compensation, to determine pipe diameters, pipe flow loss calculations and other specifications. The Technical Department at Culzoni Swimming Pools is under the supervision of experienced engineers who will be more than willing to guarantee the client to have the equipment correctly installed and in function. The result is excellent water transparency in the client’s swimming pool.

The I+D (Research & Development) Department at Culzoni Swimming Pools created this set giving the client the possibility to have a unique overflow system that is elegant and eye-catching.
The Finnish Overflow Set is used with the Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System and is made with materials that are non-heat conducting (cool), non-skid, smooth and non abrasive surface.

You are invited to see our Picture Gallery and our Show Room to know more about the Patio by Culzoni Finnish Overflow System. We will highly please to answer your request.

of Pool Decks and Solariums Surfaces

Samples Tested:

Sample No. 0247/04 - 30 x 30 cm Ceramic Tile for trading and general use outdoors.
Sample No. 0250/04 - 50 x 50 cm Solarium made by Culzoni, for floors and swimming pool decks.
Test Date: 27/04/04

Testing Method:

The comparative assessment was to analyze the behavior of two different items (“solarium” tiles and red ceramic tiles) in their habitual condition of use; i.e. being pieces of floors. The main interest is on the thermal reaction after the direct incidence of the sun, considering that these items are for outdoor use.

In the case of materials used in floors it could be said that the item will have a better reaction regarding the comfort sensation when being under intense solar exposure; balance average temperature it reaches is closer to the outer temperature of the human body, even more if the floor belongs to a solarium or sectors next to pool decks where, because of intense solar exposure, there is a forced and permanent contact with human skin.
It is understood that when the skin is in contact with an element that is receiving solar radiation, a thermal interchange takes place that will depend on the temperature of that element. If this temperature is higher than approximately 35°C (95ºF) (outer temperature of the human body) the skin will have “a hot sensation”. The highest the difference is the hottest the sensation.

Both tile and body surface temperatures were controlled with thermocouples contact thermometers, making possible an almost instantaneous recording of both surface temperatures, with a high level of accuracy (thermocouples are connected to a digital recorder that can register at 0.1°C – 32.18 Fº). The versatility of this equipment allowed measuring the temperature without affecting the process of exhibition to the solar radiation.

Graph I
Variation of temperatures during the test

Difference of the temperature values of contact between the different items can be seen clearly.

At peak time, nearly 2:00p.m., the surface temperature measured on the exposed side of the red ceramic tile is 10°C -50ºF higher than the temperature of the Non-Heat Conducting tile.
This difference that remained stable during the period of higher exposure becomes significant if it is compared to the parameter of reference considered for the outer temperature of the human body: 35ºC -95º F (skin surface).

Even at the moment of highest intensity, the temperature of the Non-Heat Conducting tile was not over the 39°C-102.20 Fº on exposed side, which is a value barely superior to the referential temperature of the skin.

This aspect is important and defines a good solution from the viewpoint of comfort sensation if it is considered that in the habitual use of the floor there is a direct contact and consequent thermal interchange between the skin and the tile surface. When taking contact with the floor the skin will not get “hotter” because both surfaces have almost the same temperature.

With the same criteria the comfort sensation is exactly the opposite when analyzing the red ceramic tile that reached a temperature next to 50°C-122 Fº (at peak time). This difference becomes more significant regarding the 35ºC -95º F of human skin at the moment of the thermal interchange. Almost 15°C-59ºF above on the surface brings an uncomfortable sensation for the skin when becoming in contact having in this case, “an intense hot sensation”.
